EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL  SHRINE CONGRATULATES THIS SITE

Father Byron Miller C.Ss.R.Executive Director of The International Shrine of St Francis Xavier Seelos has congratulated the New St Mang Website in English.

The Shrine is based at St Mary's Assumption Church in New Orleans.A museum to Blessed Seelos,containing relics and memorabilia is located in a room behind the main altar.

Father Byron runs the Shrine and contacted us via email.He told us :

Congratulations!  It is a great site and a wonderful service for those of us who don't speak German.  I appreciate you letting me know about it and, in time, I will put the link on our website as well as call attention in our monthly Seelos Newsletter.

We are greatly honoured to have Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos as one of the Patrons of the Basilica.The fact that Füssen was his birthplace is another wonderful reason to look further into the life of this great Blessed and to try and emulate his life of service to God and others.

The Shrine in New Orleans where Blessed Seelos died at the age of 48 years 9 months due to yellow fever,is open daily;

Monday to Friday :0900hrs-1500hrs

Saturdays:1000hrs-1530hrs

Parish Commitee Meeting Thursday 28th June 2007

The Parish Commitee will discuss among other things:

1)Monsignor Knebel 20 years anniversary as Priest in Füssen.

2)Golden Jubilee of Father Rudolph Böhm.

3)Visit of Bishop Walter Mixa,Bishop of Augsburg and Bishop of the German Military for the Magnusfest.Magnusfest is on 6th September and is the feastday of St Mang.

4)Review of the day of reflection and retreat held by Parish Commitee on Saturday 16th June 2007

5)The St Gabriel Kindergarten and its further development.A new class should start this September according to reports a few months back in the local paper, "Allgäuer Zeitung".It has been given the name "Project Brückenbauen".The new group will be called the Ladybird group.(Marienkäfer Gruppe):It will be for those aged about 2.5 years and will have 21 in the group and be based in the Acht Seligkeiten Social centre building. 

6)Pastoral Care of those bringing their children to be baptised in the Parish.Where do we go next?

The new Financial commitee for all the churches in the Parish attended a retreat in the Franscican Monastory on Saturday 16th June.They were all voted in for a 10 year period last year.We pray that all were refreshed in the Spirit so as to run the Parish to the glory of God.

Florian Schmutz was on Sunday 10th June was made an a Reader in the Diocesan Seminary of Augsburgh where he is a Theology Student in preparation for the Priesthood.Bishop Grünwald presided over Vespers during which he confirred the We ask prayers for him that he may become a holy priest in the service of God's Kingdom.

Friday 8th June saw the Duisburg Police Ladies Choir and The Munich Police Choir perform in St Mang Basilica.

Father Rudolph Böhm celebrates his Golden Jubilee of being ordained a priest on 23rd June 2007.We pray he has many more years in the service of the Lord! Many of us were fortunate to attend Mass in the crypt on 13th June when Father Böhm celebrated Mass with a a friend who was with him in the seminary.He gave those assembled a prayer card to celebrate his Golden Jubilee.Monsignor has decided that the whole Parish will celebrate this wonderful event on Sunday 22nd July at 100hrs in St Mang.Father Böhm is away in his homeland for the actual jubilee.

On Sunday 20th July 2007  Monsignor Karlheinz Knebel celebrates 20 years of being a priest here in Füssen where he was born.On that day the Church Choir and Chambermusic Soloists(I.A. Soprano,Miriam Rosenthal-English) will sing the Mass in C Major from Ludwig Van Beethoven.Albert Frey,Musical Director and Organist will be pushing everyone hard during practises to make sure its perfect on the day.Monsignor has a great love of music and the arts.

FÜSSEN PREPARES FOR CORPUS CHRISTI

Banners were unfurled and hanging in the porch of the Basilica of St Mang in anticipation of tommorrow's Feast of Corpus Christi.All round the Basilica and the old city much greenary has been placed as decoration. Some of the banners can be seen below
