THE ANNUAL PARISH FESTIVAL
Every year the Parish holds a celebration called a Pfarrfest.It is held in the summer and usually has a theme.This year the St Gabriel Catholic Kindergarten were saying goodbye to Monsignor Karlheinz Knebel.He has been in charge of the Kindergarten for the past three years.
The road outside the Parish Centre in Füssen west is closed for the celebrations.
Food,drink,music & fun are the order of the day.
Paul Jacob (r) Mayor of Füssen speaks with Manfred Sailor Chairman of the Parish Committee.
The mayor meets some of the Parishioners who are enjoying themselves.
Children enjoying themselves with the diffent activities that were available.
The Kinder & Jugendmuseum(Children & Young person's Museum) in Munich came with their bubble display which was paid for by the Kindergarten.All the children really enjoyed the massive bubbles they could make.
Monsignor Karlheinz Knebel mingles with the Parishioners.
The small presents the children had made in the Kindergarten which were to be presented to Monsignor Knebel.
The blue in front of Monsignor represents the River Lech.This flows between Füssen and Augsburg.Monsignor has been promoted to the position of Vicar General of the Diocese and will move to Augsburg.The case is to show he is taking a journey and in the case he puts the presents from the children which will give him many memories for the future.

DAWN CHORUS BIRTHDAY AWAKENING
The Musical Director for St Mang Basilica was sleeping soundly when at 0605hrs on the 18th June the trumpet outside his window sounded reveille.
Then members of the St Mang Basilica choir burst into song to wish him a happy 40th birthday!
The curtains fly open and the birthday boy smiles.A well kept secret on which is wife Sabine was in on.
After the singing all went in for a small breakfast before returning home.

EMPEROR & EMPRESS ATTEND MASS IN ST MANG
Emperor Maximilian 1st of Bavaria & his Empress attended the 1000hrs Mass in St Mang Basilica on Sunday 29th June 2008.
It was not the real Emperor but a local business man who dressed up for the 500th Anniversary of the death of the real Emperor.The city of Füssen were holding the "Kaisefest" to celebrate the event which is very important to the Bavarian Community.
Although the Mass was poorly advertised in the publicity brochures and local Media ,with no mention in many of the brochures,a few turned up in period customs.
The Mass was celebrated by Monsignor Karlheinz Knebel,Parish Priest,who welcomed them to the Basilica and mentioned that the Middle ages ooze out religious belief.

Meanwhile back at the food tables Father Cepe was dining with the members of his Syrian Orthodox Congregation who helped out by manning the food stalls.

BISHOP MIXA ORDAINS FÜSSENS NEW CURATE
25 year old,Julius Kreuzer was ordained by Bishop Walter Mixa on the Feast of the Apostles,St Peter & St Paul 2008.Father Kreuzer is to be curate in St Mang from September 2008.Father Kreuzer will celebrate his 1st Mass as a priest on 6th July 2008 at 0930hrs at the Primatzplatu in Oberbauren.He will serve under Father Frank Deuring who will be the New Parish Priest in Füssen from September.Please remember in your prayers, both these Priests and also Monsignor Karlheinz Knebel and Father Kasimierz Piotrowski who are leaving the Parish.

THOUSANDS OF PILGRIMS VISIT ST MANG BASILICA!!
Were thousands of pilgrims about to descend on St Mang Basilica following the 1st official Pilgrimage to the Basilica from New Orleans,USA?
Did we need so many toilets for those who might be caught short?
Well it was actually a delivery of toilets for the Kaiserfest which took place the weekend Friday 27th June to Sunday 29th June.They had nowhere else to put them,which was a bit of an inconvenience.It was just a wee delivery for onward transportation!
